Why we wrote a children’s book:
Let me begin by saying that as academics, writing is our bread and butter. Reading is also my favourite pass time (Miguel also reads occasionally!). It may therefore come as no surprise that I have many ideas that I would love to turn into books. Since working with families and children, I have naturally considered writing books on parenting. But when I had my first child, I found that I didn’t have as much time to read myself, but I was reading a lot of children’s books and often the same ones over and over again. I read some books so often that I could recite them by memory and frequently found myself repeating lines from the books to my child. I then thought to myself wouldn’t it be great if these books threw in a couple of labelled praises to get parents used to saying labelled praises out loud? That is how the idea for the “Elias” series of books was born. The first has been released, the second is in production, and a third is on the way. We hope you enjoy reading them!

Por qué escribimos un libro para niños:
Permíteme comenzar diciendo que, como académicos, la escritura es nuestro pan y mantequilla. La lectura también es mi pasatiempo favorito (¡Miguel también lee de vez en cuando!). Por lo tanto, no sorprende que tenga muchas ideas que me encantaría convertir en libros. Desde que trabajo con familias y niños, naturalmente he considerado escribir libros sobre la crianza de los hijos. Pero cuando tuve a mi primer hijo, descubrí que no tenía tanto tiempo para leer, pero leía muchos libros para niños y, a menudo, los mismos una y otra vez. Leí algunos libros con tanta frecuencia que podía recitarlos de memoria y con frecuencia me encontraba repitiendo líneas de los libros a mi hijo. Luego pensé, ¿no sería genial si estos libros incluyeran un par de elogios etiquetados para que los padres se acostumbren a decir elogios etiquetados en voz alta? Así nació la idea de la serie de libros “Elias”. El primero ha sido lanzado, el segundo está en producción y un tercero está en camino. ¡Esperamos que disfrutes leyéndolos!
